"Human Scavenger Hunt" BBQ Party Game

In terms of outdoor BBQ party games, this one is fantastic if you have guests who don't know (or at least a lot about) each other. Prior to the party, create a list of categories that people may fall into, giving one copy to each guest. Examples include "someone who shares the same shoe size as you", "someone who speaks a foreign language", or "someone who is a baseball enthusiast". Guests must mingle and talk with each other until they are able to find someone who meets each of the categories on the sheet.
"Water Balloon Volleyball" BBQ Party Game
If it's the middle of summer and there are going to be children at your BBQ party, games like this are fantastic to beat the heat. Prior to the party fill up LOTS of water balloons gather a collection of old towels and set up a "net" (or even a section of lawn with a piece of rope across the middle) in the backyard. Children split into two even teams and pair up with someone else in their team. Give each pair a towel. This BBQ party game begins with a pair from one team placing a water-balloon in their towel, and using it to toss the balloon over the line. The throwing and catching continues until one team misses, giving the other team 1 point. The first team to 10 points wins.
